As there’s a proliferation of Airdrops in the crypto and blockchain space, Evmos airdrop has stood to be one of the best airdrops of the year among others.

The airdrop model is compelling and intriguing, thus, many crypto enthusiasts (notably Ethereum and Cosmos users) have been eager and curious to know how to claim Evmos airdrop.

However, what is most important is to know if you’re eligible to claim Evmos airdrop. In this article, I will let you know if you’re eligible and also walk you through the step-by-step guide to claiming Evmos airdrop.

But before then, it’s crucial to know the initiative behind the Evmos airdrop and also more insight into what the Evmos ecosystem is all about.

What Is Evmos?

Evmos is coined from the two words “EVM” (Ethereum Virtual Machine) and Cosmos. Evmos is a scalable, high-throughput Proof-of-Stake blockchain that is fully compatible and enables interoperability with Ethereum. It’s built using the Cosmos SDK which runs on top of the Tendermint Core consensus engine.

Evmos allows for running vanilla Ethereum as a Cosmos application-specific blockchain. This allows developers to have all the desired features of Ethereum, while at the same time, benefiting from Tendermint’s PoS implementation.

Evmos allows Ethereum developers to port their existing protocol over into the Cosmos ecosystem.

Also, because it is built on top of the Cosmos SDK, it will be able to exchange value with the rest of the Cosmos Ecosystem through the Inter Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC).

Evmos Airdrop

The initiative behind Evmos airdrop is simply to reward users who supported the Evmos smart contract platform in the Cosmos ecosystem (notably ATOM and OSMO participants).

But Evmos wants to broaden its reach by giving incentives to any Ethereum users who have got rekt by fees or bad projects.

This airdrop event is named “rekt drop” thus, anyone that has interacted and made a transaction (getting rekt by fees to execute a transaction) in the Ethereum and Cosmos ecosystem will be rewarded.

Evmos Airdrop Eligibility

Eligible users are users that have done a transaction in the Ethereum and Cosmos ecosystem before the “Rektdrop” snapshot that was taken on Nov. 25th, 2021 at 19:00 UTC.

Below are the Evmos airdrop eligibility criteria for Cosmos hub users, Osmosis users, and Ethereum users that have done one or two things outlined by the Evmos team below:

Evmos Airdrop For Cosmos Hub Users

Users that voted on ATOM Governance Prop 44 which makes Evmos be live on the Cosmos ecosystem will be rewarded irrespective of the option they opt for in the proposal.

Users that have also delegated ATOM (staking) within the Cosmos ecosystem will be rewarded as an incentive for securing the blockchain network.

Evmos Airdrop For Osmosis Users

Evmos airdrop can be claimed by Osmos delegators, OSMO/ATOM liquidity providers, OSMO/AKT & ATOM/AKT liquid providers, OSMO/UST liquidity providers, ION Holders, users that has transferred to and from the Osmosis chain.

However, below are the step by step guide to claiming the airdrop:

How to claim Evmos Airdrop For Cosmos Users

To claim Evmos airdrop as Cosmos users, go here and connect your wallet by selecting “Keplr wallt”. You can only claim quarterly at four steps which is outlined below:

  • Send an IBC transaction from Osmosis to Evmos

All you have to do is to open your Kelpr wallet and add Evmos (Beta) in Keplr then copy your evmos1 address and you will then activate the “Show Advanced IBC Transfers” button.

After that, you then switch to the Osmosis chain and click on IBC Transfers.

On the next page, you Set the destination chain to “Evmos (Beta)” as the destination chain and “channel-204” as the channel ID.

After that, you then paste your Evmos address in the Recipient box.

Then the next page will prompt you to send some Osmos tokens to claim 25% of your Evmos token.

  • Vote On A Governance Proposal

Connect your wallet as guided above, and also follow the link in the first step (Send an IBC transaction from Osmosis to Evmos).

Click on governance to cast your vote on any available proposals, then click on the “Airdrop Claim Soon” Proposal and vote as “Yes”. You will receive 25% of your airdrop when the transaction has been processed.

  • Stake To A Validators

Connect your Kelpr wallet with the link as guided in the first step, navigate to “Stake” in your Kelpr wallet and choose your preference validator then set the amount of Evmos token that you would like to stake, approve the transaction and you will receive another 25% out or your airdrop also.

Conclusion

With the step-by-step guide in this article, you should be able to claim Evmos airdrop successfully.

However, the claiming of the airdrop has been paused at the time of writing this content due to a technical issue in the smart-contract platform which would be rectified soon as claimed by the development team.
